DMSO for interstitial cystitis

“Everyone who suffers from interstitial cystitis should know about Elmiron. What do you think about it?”
-L.M.L., California

Elmiron is a drug taken orally for interstitial cystitis (IC), an inflammation of the bladder of unknown cause. I have read the research on it and am not very impressed.

The treatment of choice for the past 40 years has been DMSO, instilled into the bladder by a catheter. It is a remarkably safe chemical-I have used it intravenously in large doses with only one side effect: It makes you smell like a sexually aroused billy goat. It is still the treatment of choice for IC; it can eliminate the symptoms for several months, and you will only stink for a few days. Ask your urologist about this therapy.
